Connell Brothers Philippines Recognized with ‘Value Over Price’ Award

The first distributor to receive the award, CBC Philippines was acknowledged by Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients for its valuable marketing of   Strodex™ TH100

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — August 22, 2011 — Connell Brothers Company Philippines (“CBC Philippines”), a marketer and distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients, and a subsidiary of Wilbur-Ellis Company, has been awarded the first ever ‘Value Over Price’ award by Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients (“AAFI”) . The ‘Value Over Price’ award recognizes distributors who build the foundation of their sales based on relationships and value-added services to customers instead of price competition.

CBC Philippines was recognized by AAFI for the value it added to AAFI’s all-in-one surfactant Strodex™  TH100 (“TH100”) while marketing and distributing the product to paint manufacturers.

CBC Philippines and AAFI successfully identified TH100 as a solution for a large paint manufacturer in the Philippines that had a persistent color acceptance issue in its key paint formulations. The benefits of TH100 include: good color acceptance, reduced pigment dispersion time and low foaming, eliminating the need for costly de-foamers.

“Anyone can sell on price, but dollarizing a value proposition is more difficult to achieve,” said Brad Millwood, sales and marketing director, AAFI Asia Pacific. “When you build strong relationships and dollarize your value proposition, you build long-term trust with your clients.”

Millwood presented a case study demonstrating how TH100 is a solution for paint manufacturers at the awards ceremony in Manila on July 28.

Members of the CBC Philippines technical and coatings commercial teams were present to accept the award including: Chona Yu, Rachelle Hirang, Marivic Villamor, Jerrold Flores, Dionisio Ballerda and Rod Reyes Jr.
